Modular Construction / Entrepreneurship / 2018
SUBOX
SUBOX is an Argentine startup that I co-founded with a friend and colleague, later expanding the team to around 12 people. Its goal is to take the construction industry to new efficiency levels, starting by manufacturing modular, dry-built living spaces through innovative design and insulation methods, of very high quality, durability and flexibility of uses and expansion possibilities, delivering them to you in just a couple of months.

Ephemeralization, a term coined by R. Buckminster Fuller in 1938, is the ability of technological advancement to do "more and more with less and less until eventually you can do everything with nothing", that is, an accelerating increase in the efficiency of achieving the same or more output (products, services, information, etc.) while requiring less input (effort, time, resources, etc.)
Overview
Modular construction is a process in which a building for any use is built off-site, under controlled plant conditions, using industrialized materials with higher quality standards than those conventionally and traditionally used, in much less time.
The basic premise is to produce modules that are then taken to the site already finished, reflecting design levels and specifications with the same potential as a building constructed on-site, without resignations, and with much higher quality controls. They can be expanded by adding modules or remove and resell those that are no longer in use. They are not tied to a specific site, since they can be transported to another location if desired.
This was the initial step on a longer plan. We would start offering our own products through an online customization platform where people would set up their own space (similar to how you would buy a car), and then opening this platform to other providers, finally building an online marketplace for modularized space.
I later left this initiative to work on other projects, but on this journey, I learned a lot more than I could describe in words. We went through incubation periods, mentoring, seeking funding/partners, competitions, TV/paper interviews, and a lot more, all with an amazing, multidisciplinary team that we all formed. This led us to win the Emprendiun award from the Government of Córdoba.
